Our Varieties Regional Adaptability
With a keen understanding that regional and local conditions strongly influence tomato yields and quality, BonTom executes active breeding programs in a variety of regions around the world. BonTom varieties are specifically adapted to regional climates, including those of the Mediterranean, France, USA and Mexico, as well as tropical and subtropical climates. By making skilled use of genes for particular adaptation to specific environmental conditions, BonTom is able to develop new varieties that are better suited to a wide range of environments.
Below are some examples:
Breeding for Mediterranean and other climate conditions – BonTom breeds, and has successfully released, greenhouse varieties that are well-adapted to the Mediterranean climate of Spain, Sicily, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Israel. It has also produced varieties specifically suited to the climate conditions of northern France.

Breeding for Turkish growers – BonTom breeds tomato hybrids for the fall and winter seasons in Turkey. The varieties developed for this market produce heavy yields of quality fruit during the fall season and are also yielding in the cold season in minimally heated greenhouses, satisfying the needs of local and export markets.
Breeding long shelf-life outdoor hybrids for Mexico - BonTom has developed a number of semi-determinate long shelf-life tomato varieties adapted to, and now widely grown in, the Culjacan region. These hybrids, with multi-disease resistance, are produced mainly for export to the USA.
Large quantities of our tomato seeds are sold in China – our long shelf-life varieties are well known and widely grown in several areas of China.
